Biologists boosted the gene PGC-1 in fruit flies and discovered that it extended the lives of the flies. The boosted PGC-1 increased the activity of mitochondria in the flies cells and when the PGC-1 in the digestive tract was triggered, it extended their lives by 50%.

Miracle Day
So there is only one more episode left of Torchwood: Miracle Day. I have to say that sadly I am not impressed with this season. The second season and Children of Earth were both amazing. Episodes in season 1 are noteworthy too, but there has not been a complete episode this time around which I found great.

Bioluminescence and Red Tide Blooms
Seeing such scenes in the ocean is quite a breathtaking view, but such a large bioluminescent show is produced by a red tide bloom or algal bloom.

Over at bulbapedia a guy (George Hutcheon) has written some articles concerning the real life animals or mythological animals which have been the inspiration for some pokémon.
